The Bishop of Canberra & Goulburn has an assistant bishop. The Rt. Rev. Stuart Robinson has appointed Archdeacon Ian Lambeth Assistant Bishop region of the Coast, Southern Monaro and the Snowy. The appointment has been endorsed by the diocesan synod and has the “Bishop in Council, the Primate and the Bishops of the Province of NSW,” he wrote on 3 December 2011.

The diocesan statement said the post would be part time, and would be combined with the positions of rector of Batemans Bay. The part-time position will allow the new bishop “to serve within and be cared for by a local community of faith.” Bishop Robinson said.

The consecration for the new bishop is scheduled for 31 March 2012 at St. Saviours Cathedral, Goulburn. The chief Consecrator will be Dr Brain Farran, Bishop of Newcastle.

Here is a report from Anglican Media Melbourne on the appointment.
